31 March | PremierNational Appoints The Hon Graham Richardson AO as Special Counsel
PremierNational is pleased to announce that The Hon Graham Richardson AO, a former Labor Senator for NSW and Cabinet Minister in both the Hawke and Keating governments, has joined the team.
PremierState and PremierNational Chair Michael Photios said he planned to hold briefings for clients along with Richardson, Executive Director of Federal Government Fiona Scott (former Liberal MP in the Abbott and Turnbull governments), and Director of Labor & Crossbench Engagement Darrin Barnett (former Director of Communications to Labor Prime Minister Julia Gillard) ahead of the upcoming federal election. Richardson, Scott, and Barnett are all regular contributors to Sky News. Additionally, Richardson writes a regular column for The Australian.
“The addition of Graham Richardson as Labor’s best-connected and experienced strategist in Australia to PremierNational, ensures we stay at the head of the pack in what is a highly competitive industry,” Photios said.
“The political landscape has shifted considerably since the onset of COVID-19. The pandemic saw not only the introduction of National Cabinet but perhaps more importantly, underscored the wide range of powers available to state premiers.
“The Federal Budget has been well received, which is good news for Scott Morrison, but the recent result in South Australia has tipped the balance at National Cabinet further in Labor’s favour.
“So PremierNational is continuing to strengthen our bipartisan offering to ensure our clients’ interests are represented with the best-in-class government relations offering in the nation.
“With this greatly strengthened top tier bipartisan team - Photios & Richo - our platform for greater expansion and growth is secured for the next decade of blue and red governments across the country.”
Richardson added, “If you are going to be in the advisory business, then it is best to be with the number one. That is why I am joining PremierNational.”
