Minister Ayres is currently the Minister for Enterprise, Investment and Trade, Tourism and Sport and Western Sydney. He brings to his role more than a decade of experience in politics and has previously held the positions of Deputy Government Whip, Parliamentary Secretary for Transport and Roads, Parliamentary Secretary for Western Sydney before he was elevated to the NSW Ministry in December 2013.

Prior to entering NSW Parliament, Ayres worked as an account executive for Austereo, 2DayFM and Triple M radio stations. He also worked at the Australian College of Physical Education as a Student Recruitment Manager initially before becoming the Director of Marketing and Business Development.

 Ayres is energetic and passionate. He is willing to find new solutions to problems in his portfolio areas and is focused on the future of Western Sydney. Last month, when speaking about the WestInvest Fund, Ayres said “What we have seen over the past 10 years is a government committed to the people of western Sydney. It has a strong plan for the future of western Sydney. WestInvest is at the heart of it. It is making sure that this $5 billion goes to the people of western Sydney so they get their fair share."

Alongside his enthusiastic interest in sport, he shares a particular passion and interest in horse racing. Ayres has been a Board Member of the Penrith Australian Football Club for a decade and was the founding secretary of the Penrith Valley Sports Foundation. He has played over 200 games in the Sydney AFL competition.
