9 November | Reform & Precinct Tracker

The PremierNational Property, Planning and Infrastructure team is launching a new ‘Reform & Precinct Tracker’ initiative to keep our clients and network informed on some of the key initiatives happening across NSW in the planning space.

We will issue the tracker monthly via email, monitoring major regulatory and legislative changes affecting property and planning, as well as some substantive precincts. It is designed to summarise at a glance the status of key initiatives to keep you informed.

Included in this blog, you will also find some high level PremierNational insights into the new Premier, Dominic Perrottet.

Please contact our Director Ilana Waldman, Special Counsel Lino Caccavo or Special Counsel Antony Anisse if you have any questions with respect to any of these items.

QUICK OVERVIEW

REFORM + PRECINCT TRACKER

  • Perrottet has been a Member of Parliament since 2011, and is the current member for the state seat of Epping.

  • Perrottet became Minister for Finance and Services in April 2014, then became Treasurer in January 2017.

  • Perrottet is a Commerce/Law graduate from the University of Sydney and worked as a solicitor at Henry Davis York Lawyers before entering Parliament.

  • Perrottet is aligned with the conservative faction of the NSW Liberal Party. He has a focus on traditional family values, attributing this to growing up as the third eldest of 12 siblings.

  • As Finance Minister, Perrottet was supportive of Baird’s privatisation and asset-recycling agenda.

  • Perrottet is willing to find new solutions to problems, so long as they are principally and morally sound. He has a focus on shrinking government, stating: “If the private sector can do it better, then the private sector should do it”.

  • Perrottet has advocated for moving from stamp duty towards a broad-based land tax.

  • Perrottet is focused on making Sydney a 24-hour, international city that is the gateway to Australia.
