Prior to entering NSW Parliament in 2017, Griffin was a Councillor for Manly Council from 2012 to 2016 and served as the Deputy Mayor from 2015 to 2016. In 2009, Griffin co-founded SR7, a digital risk consulting company, which was later acquired by the professional service group, KPMG. He subsequently joined KPMG as a Director from 2014 to 2017.
Griffin is passionate about the environment and believes that when it comes to managing the tension between protecting the environment and the needs of extractive industries and agriculture,
“The starting point on all of that is to respect and believe the science as a driver of policy. I’m actually really excited by the opportunity to I’ve got to reimagine some of the relationships that have been contentious over time.” - James Griffin
