Minister Tuckerman is the Member for Goulburn and was appointed the Minister for Local Government on 21 December 2021. This is Tuckerman’s first ministerial appointment since she became a Member of the NSW Legislative Assembly in 2019. To her role, she brings a wealth of experience having served as a Councillor, Mayor and Administrator in local governments for well over a decade.
Prior to entering the NSW Parliament, Tuckerman was an Investigator/Detective in the Australian Federal Police. In 2004, she was elected as a Councillor on the Boorowa Council and subsequently became the first female Mayor of Boorowa Council in 2007. She remained as the Mayor for 12 years before she was appointed as the Administrator of the newly merged Hilltops Council in 2016. A year later in 2017, she was elected as a Councillor in the Hilltops Council.
In her role as the Minister for Local Government, Tuckerman is responsible for Public Reserves, Coastal Management, Companion Animals, Graffiti Control and assisting the 128 local councils, 9 county councils and 13 joint organisations across NSW.
“One of my high priorities is to strengthen collaboration and engagement between State and local governments on the best ways we can support local councils to better serve their local communities now and in the future.” – Wendy Tuckerman
